– A Nigerian man has reportedly been arrested after he duped his fiancee
– The man reportedly collected N4,285,000 from his fiancee after their introduction – It was gathered that the family later discovered that he was married to another woman A 41-year-old woman identified as Matthew Atewe has been arrested and arraigned to a magistrate court for defrauding his fiancee Gladys Imagnenikaro of N4,285,000, after their introduction ceremony. The man had reportedly gone to meet the lady’s parents and claiming his love for her. He had declared his intentions to marry her and became a trusted friend to the family. According to The Nation, after the introduction ceremony the lady gave Atewe who she believed was her fiance goods worth 12,000 pounds (N3,000,000) to him to help her sell.
Gladys’ younger brother Kenneth Imagbenikaro while giving his testimony in court also revealed that Gladys sent another N1,285,000 to Atewe to be deposited in her account. Kenneth added that she sent him to retrieve the goods and money after she discovered that her fiance was no longer being truthful to her.
He said: “Due to the trust my sister had in him, she sent him goods worth €12,000 which is equivalent of N3m. My sister also sent N1,285,000 to him to put in her account.”
