In a statement obtained by NAIJ.com from the police public relations officer of Lagos command, Chike Oti, the 31 year old Dominic was reported by the father of one of the children he abused and indecently assaulted. The father of the victim, who claimed that Dominic defiled his 15 year old daughter when he went out to fend for his family, also accused the Togolese of abusing other teenagers in the area, prompting the police to swing into an action. According to the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Ejigbo police station, CSP Olabisi Okufowobi Ejigbo, the police, running on the complaint, quickly assigned the crime to a female officer with extensive training in children and women rights who interrogated the victim and confirmed the report.
He said: “On October 10, about 08.50hrs, a report came to the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Ejigbo police station, Olabisi Okufowobi by the father of one of the children defiled and indecently assaulted by a Togo national, Dominic Samson, 31, of No.28 Olusesan street, Ejigbo; that while he was busy fending for his family, Dominic Samson, a neighbour, was home having his way with his 15-year-old daughter.
“Based on his complaint, the DPO, a female officer, with extensive training in children and women rights, interrogated the victim and she confirmed the report. She confirmed that the suspect did not only defile her but sodomised her by having sexual intercourse with her. “She further revealed that she was not the only victim of the suspect’s indecent sexual behaviour. She named five other victims who are within 13 to 15 years age bracket.” The report also confirmed that all the victims, ‘except the sixth’ have been interrogated and put on records. It also added that the victims have been taken to hospital for medical confirmation. It read: “The five survivors had been taken to the Mirabel Centre where the doctor’s report confirmed that the victim’s were indeed defiled as alleged. “The CP Lagos once again admonishes parents to be mindful of their children as that is the only panacea to the rising cases of sexual exploitation and abuse of children.”
