The Nigeria Government recently agreed to reopen schools across the country.
In order to ensure the safety of students and teachers in the schools, the Government has directed that all schools reopening on September 21st will carry out “weekly Covid-19 assessment test.”
Both States and Local Government Schools are to “Conduct monthly and quarterly risk assessment in schools.”
The directives was given in a statement by the Director General of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
Confirming the resumption date for schools, he said “Schools that were closed in March to curb the spread of the Corona Virus will now open in phases, starting September 21.”
According to him, the purpose of assessing the Federal, State and Local Government schools is to determine the level of compliance to the Covid-19 protocols by the schools.
Guidelines given for the assessment include regular washing of hands, use of face masks, maintaining social distancing.
