On Thursday, 8th October 2020, President Muhammadu Buhari has presented the N13.08 tr 2021 Appropriation Bill to a Joint session of the National Assembly.

Buhari got to the National Assembly premised by exactly 11.01am and he was received by Arc Ojo Olatunde Amos, the Clerk to the National Assembly, who led him through the basement door into the House of Representatives Chambers.

Unlike the way budget presentations were done in previous years, President Muhammadu Buhari was only accompanied by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and a few ministers, while the others are expected to participate virtually as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

This new setting was done this way in order to maintain social distancing during the presentation.

The President is expected to give a breakdown of the performance of the 2020 budget first before presenting the proposed budget.

The lawmakers are also meant to consider and pass the 2021-2023 Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and Fiscal Strategy Paper (FSP).
