Kano State Government Destroys Alcohol Worth N200 Million

The Kano State Government has destroyed 1,970,000 bottles of beer which is worth N200 million. On Sunday, November 8, the State Hisbah Commission took the step in smashing the bottle after the court allowed the commission to do that. Kano state is an Islamic state in northern Nigeria which is partially governed under the Sharia law and has Hisbah officers who enforce the Sharia law in the state. Hisbah was established to enforce a distinctive Islamic government. It fights the problems of community security in a separate way, dedicated to the abolition of the business and consumption of beer, the restriction of sex work, the segregation of the sexes in public spaces, and the policing of a moral order based on Sharia.
