Lady Escapes Death For Child Theft In Anambra Community!

A 45-year-old woman, who’s name is yet to be ascertained escaped lynching by angry mobs, the lady is currently cooling off at Ozubulu Police station, Ekwusigo Local Government Area, Anambra State for purportedly stealing a three year old boy, master Kamsiyochukwu Onwughalu. Trouble started for master Onwughalu, when his mother, Mrs Uchechukwu Onwughalu, asked his elder sibling to look after him while she rushed to the community palm kernel oil mill for some oil last Friday morning. As the children in company of others who joined them later, were playing, a strange woman, came to them and brought out money, asking the elderly ones among them to go an buy akara balls for them to share and the elderly ones went immediately, leaving master Onwughalu with the woman and because she has not perfected her plan to whisk away the boy, she asked them again to go and buy bread. On return she directed them for the third time to buy biscuits and they left happily while the boy was still with the stranger. As they came back, neither the boy nor the strange woman was seen, prompting them (children) to shout in disbelief which attracted the attention of passers-by. The boy allegedly was stolen earlier Immediately after being informed of what transpired between them and the stranger, the people, with the aid of village urchins and idlers, mobilised and organised a search party that went and laid ambush at the community exit routes, having been given the description of the strange woman by the children who claimed that they would identify her if seen. Speculation was rife that she may have also handed over the boy to her accomplice to help in any suspicion as she would be alone if caught and it happened as speculated.
