#EndSARS: El-Rufai Reveals Those Who Hijacked Protests

On Monday, Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State disclosed people who hijacked the End SARS protest across states. In his statement, he noted that the peaceful protest was hijacked by anti-democratic forces. He included that the organizers of the protest against police brutality and bad governance have good intentions for Nigeria as a whole. The Kaduna State Governor said this while speaking with newsmen after a meeting of the Northern Governors Forum and traditional rulers in Kaduna on Monday. “We believe that the End SARS organisers have the best of intentions, but there are people that are pushing their own evil, anti-democratic agenda.” “We have taken very clear positions on some of these issues, and we also back our road map, looking at various aspects of our lives, including Nigeria’s economic challenges, developmental and the almajiri problems,” he said.

Bishop David Oyedepo says Buhari is leading ‘Killer Regime’, backs #EndSARS protesters

David Oyedepo, presiding Bishop of the Living Faith Church, has hailed #EndSARS protesters calling for extensive police reforms and an end to rights violations in the country. Oyedepo while speaking during the second service of the church on Sunday said President Muhammadu Buhari was leading a regime with no regard for human lives. He said, “I warned this land concerning the evils that lay ahead, I was grievously attacked but see what is happening today, see where we are today. “Many cannot pass through because of the protest which is legitimate, the protest is legitimate. “If law enforcement agents can start shooting indiscriminately, senselessly at young individuals — imagine if we were killed as youths, will we be here today? “If they (government) were killed when they were youths, will they be where they are today? And because no one can tell who is next, the youth have the legitimate right to express their displeasure and express it. “Understand my moral reason for being quiet, I have been quiet because I warned. If the youth standing today stood by what I said, we won’t be here. “There is no way the wicked can rule and people will rejoice, when the wicked rules, the people mourn. Absolute disregard for human life is the identity of this regime without any feelings whatsoever. “Lord have mercy, you sent your warning and we refused to heed it about this wicked system. People who will change the story of Africa are among them, the devil does not just kill, his fight is against kings. “When you see an onslaught like this, it is haunting for the kings — who can tell whether one of those ones slain is ordained to be president of this nation that will bring the nation out of the woods, we can’t tall. “It is not for lack of what to do, it is finding a way to legitimately express their displeasure with this killer system.”

Bola Tinubu reacts to allegation of sponsoring the #EndSARS protest

Bola Tinubu, the former Lagos State Governor and National Leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has reacted to media reports that he was among those sponsoring #EndSARS protesters across the country. He denied the allegation leveled against him. In a statement by his spokesman, Tunde Rahman, he said he could not be sponsoring a protest that is affecting the economy of Lagos State, according to TheCable. Tunde said it is not possible for the APC Chieftain to be supporting the protest in all the states of the federation that it has occurred. He said in a statement, “There is a need to set the facts and record straight for fear that such a fake story may be taken on its face value by some unwary and gullible persons. “Asiwaju Tinubu could not have sponsored the #EndSARS protest that has blocked one of the main entries into and out of Lagos and one of the economic arteries of the Lagos State Government. He could also not have sponsored such a protest where he too has been labeled a target by the organizers. “Secondly, Asiwaju Tinubu believes in the right of Nigerians to freedom of expression, assembly, and protest where and when necessary, he has always canvassed the need for people to explore peaceful channels to ventilate their views and demands. He believes the #EndSARS protesters have made their demands, which the Federal Government is studying. “Like most Nigerians, Asiwaju believes that SARS’ brutality and untoward conduct against innocent youths and other Nigerians have gone on for too long and that the security outfit ought to be disbanded as demanded by the protesters. “Asiwaju Tinubu believes it’s now time for our youths to wait, exercise restraint for dialogue and reform to commence. Therefore, it is the height of illogicality to ascribe the sponsorship of the protest to Asiwaju. The sponsors of this fake news forget that the protest is so widespread and cuts across the country.”
